Medical Institutions in Serbia face lack of experts during last couple of decades. This is particularly noticeable in small towns, i.e. local hospitals and medical centers. Furthermore, there is a constant need for consultations with specialists, professors, physicians and institutes from various parts of the world in order to increase the level of expertise and knowledge of local physicians. This is often not included in annual budgets. The main challenge which health institutions in Serbia face is to find the solutions which shall enable the patients from small communities to receive higher quality healthcare, and primarily more efficient diagnostics.
Solution
After thorough analysis of the current situation and technological maturity of health institutions, TeleGroup proposed and implemented optimal solution for telemedicine. It contributed to adequate response to large number of above mentioned challenges. Implementation of Polycom video – conferencing system enabled communication between local and superior medical instituions on daily basis, and consultations with foreign experts when necessary, as well as training of medical staff on applications of the latest methods and treatment techniques. This technology was used for video transmission of surgical interventiions in real time, for the purpose of adopting the state-of-the-art treatment methods from various fields of medicine.
